I remember standing in the middle of Seoul’s Seocho District on an overcast morning, looking up at this tower as it twisted into the sky. There’s something magnetic about a building that bends the rules—literally. The entire structure feels like it’s in motion, shaped by long vertical lines that ripple upward with a rhythm all their own. Working from this low angle, I leaned into that motion, letting the curves stretch beyond the frame until the building became less of an object and more of a rising gesture.

That’s one of the things I love about photographing modern Asian architecture: the willingness to experiment with form. Seocho, in particular, is filled with bold design choices, and this skyscraper stands out even in a city known for pushing boundaries. The facade shifts from concave to convex in one continuous flow, creating a sense of engineered gravity. In monochrome, those curves only grow stronger. The deep blacks carve out the shape; the highlights slide between the panels like light moving across water.

The clouded sky helped more than a clear one ever could. Soft light wraps around a structure like this without flattening it. It gives the lines room to breathe, letting the building maintain its depth while avoiding harsh reflections. Suppose you enjoy architectural photography that emphasises shape over colour.
