Every time I walk through Seoul's Seocho District, I find myself looking up. The city has a way of pulling your eyes skyward, especially around Garak Tower East, where the architecture bends and curves as if the buildings are breathing. This photograph came from one of those moments when I stopped in the middle of the street, tipped my head back, and let the scene tower over me.

What struck me first was the rhythm of the façade—those vertical lines rising in a slow, powerful wave. From ground level, the building never looks still. It sways with the light, shifts with the clouds, and plays tricks with depth, making you question what's solid and what's a reflection. I wanted to capture that energy, that sense of movement inside something fixed and engineered.

Framing the old street light against the glass felt like the anchor the scene needed. That worn surface, all texture and grit, sits in beautiful contrast to the sleek precision behind it. When the clouds opened just enough to glow around the lamps, it created the mood I had been waiting for—soft light wrapping a hardened structure. Moments like this are why I travel with my camera; they remind me that cities don't just grow, they express themselves.

Black and white suited this scene ideally. With the colour stripped away, the geometry becomes the storyteller. The building's curvature leans into the lamps; the lamps push back; and the sky swirls behind them like a stage curtain. It's a real study in how lines, shapes, and atmosphere can work together to carve out emotion in a place known for speed and efficiency.

When I bring a piece like this into someone's home, I want it to do more than decorate. I want it to pull you in—to give you that exact moment of pause I felt on the street. This image carries a sense of strength, stillness, and modern urban beauty that Seoul does so well. Whether it's for an office, a quiet reading corner, or a bold feature wall, it brings a clean architectural presence with just enough mood to make you linger.
