The Wrigley Building has always felt like a bridge between eras to me. Standing along the Chicago River, its pale stone façade and iconic clock tower rise with a confidence born of having watched the city reinvent itself again and again. In this black-and-white photograph, the building isn’t isolated as a postcard landmark; it’s framed by the dense geometry of modern skyscrapers, creating a layered conversation between early twentieth-century elegance and the vertical intensity of contemporary Chicago.
What I’m drawn to here is the rhythm of repetition. Window after window, line after line, the older structure holds its own against the darker, more monolithic tower in the foreground. The contrast is not only in age but in texture and tone: the softer limestone glow of the Wrigley Building against the deeper, heavier grid of steel and glass. Stripping the scene of colour lets those differences speak more clearly. Light becomes structure. Shadow becomes depth. The clock face, crisp and calm, anchors the composition like a steady heartbeat amid a fast-moving city.
Photographing in downtown Chicago always feels like working inside a living machine. The river curves, the bridges open and close, traffic hums, and above it all, these buildings stand as witnesses. From this vantage point, the Wrigley Building reads like a timekeeper for the city itself, marking not just the hour but the passing of decades. The vertical lines pull the eye upward, while the river level grounds the scene, giving it both scale and balance.
This image matters because it captures that tension between permanence and change. Cities evolve, styles shift, skylines grow denser, yet specific structures retain a presence that defines the place. The Wrigley Building is one of those anchors in Chicago, and in black and white, its architectural character feels even more pronounced, more graphic, more timeless.
This photograph was created on location from real, lived experience, standing along the river and working the composition until the relationships between the buildings felt right. Every print is produced from that original moment, personally signed by me, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity confirming it as a real photograph, printed and authored by the artist.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
