This photograph captures a distinctly Toronto moment where past and present rise side by side. The CN Tower stands clean and modern in the background. At the same time, the brick smokestack in the foreground carries the bold vertical lettering of a former industrial site along the Toronto waterfront. The contrast is immediate and deliberate—sleek concrete and steel framed against weathered masonry, both reaching skyward under shifting clouds.
What drew me to this scene was the visual tension. The tower is instantly recognizable, but it’s the smokestack that grounds the image, anchoring it in the city’s working history. The brick surface shows age and texture, each block catching light differently in black and white. The lettering climbs the stack like a marker of identity, turning industrial infrastructure into graphic architecture. The clouds add movement and depth, breaking up the sky and giving the vertical forms room to breathe.
This part of Toronto has always been a study in layers. Former factories and power plants sit just steps from new residential towers, and that overlap defines the waterfront today. Shooting upward emphasizes scale and separation, allowing the smokestack and CN Tower to coexist without competing. The black-and-white treatment strips away distractions, letting shape, structure, and contrast do the work.
I created this photograph on location while walking along the Toronto waterfront, responding to how the skyline reveals itself in fragments rather than in postcard views. It’s a perspective shaped by time spent exploring the city on foot, noticing how older industrial elements still punctuate the modern skyline. Each print is personally signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity confirming that this is a real photograph, captured and printed by me.
This image works exceptionally well as wall art in spaces that lean toward architectural, urban, or industrial design. The strong vertical composition suits larger formats, where the scale of both structures can fully assert itself. It’s a piece that speaks to cities in transition, where history isn’t erased—it’s built around.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
