CN Tower and Curved Glass Building | Toronto Architectural Photography
A Familiar Tower Beside a Sweeping Grid of Windows
I have always admired the CN Tower’s presence in Toronto, but this neighbouring glass facade gave me a different way to see it. My black and white photograph looks upward, with the tower on the left and the building’s curved window grid filling the right. The view makes their contrasting shapes as interesting as the landmark itself.
The tower has a clear vertical line, interrupted by the broad circular form of its observation level. Beside it, the glass building bends through the frame, its repeated windows changing size and angle as they rise. I like how that curve creates a pocket of pale sky around the tower, giving its outline room to remain distinct.
The window grid adds another kind of detail. Some panes reflect neighbouring structures, while others stay relatively flat and grey. Those changes give the facade texture without breaking its overall rhythm. In monochrome, the dark lines between the panes become especially strong against the lighter tower and sky.
I kept the composition tall because the upward movement is central to the photograph. It can be read as a Toronto city image or as a study of architecture, with a familiar landmark placed beside a less familiar pattern. For a modern office or an urban interior, it offers both recognition and geometry. What stays with me is the fresh perspective that came from looking at the tower in relation to its surroundings, rather than allowing it to stand alone.
