There’s a certain kind of winter evening in Toronto when the world seems to settle into itself, and Lake Ontario becomes an enormous sheet of calm colour. This photograph comes from one of those quiet moments—standing along the shoreline with nothing but open water, soft air, and the slow drift of dusk spreading across the sky. The city sits just behind you, full of noise and motion, yet the lake in front of you feels like an entirely different world.

What drew me to lift the camera here wasn’t a dramatic wave or an architectural landmark. It was the simplicity—the kind of simplicity that asks for patience rather than attention. The gradient of colour is what makes the scene sing: warm peach at the top slowly dissolving into lavender, then settling into the muted blue that wraps around the horizon. Winter light in Toronto often surprises me with its gentleness. It doesn’t shout; it drifts, it fades, it lingers. And in that softness you can feel the cold air doing something beautiful rather than harsh.

Minimalist scenes like this can be tricky. There’s nowhere to hide and nothing to distract. Every line, every tone, every texture carries the full weight of the frame. Lake Ontario helped immensely here—the water surface had that faint, winter stillness where ripples form a delicate grid, just active enough to keep the lower half of the image alive. When you print this large, that subtle movement becomes a quiet anchor, grounding all that colour above it.

If you’ve ever stood on this shore in winter, you know the feeling well: hands in your pockets, cold air brushing your face, watching the sky stretch across the lake like a soft, slow exhale. That sense of openness is what I wanted to preserve—an image that gives you space rather than fills it. This print doesn’t compete with a room; it relaxes into it. It’s the kind of piece that changes with the light around it, taking on a warmer glow at sunrise, then shifting cooler as evening falls.

This photograph also feels connected to a broader theme in my work—seascapes that balance colour and calm, where the horizon carries the mood instead of the details. If that balance speaks to you, you may find a similar atmosphere in Orange Glow Seascape Sunset Art Print.

Limited Edition of 10

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.

Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.

I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.

Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

Premium Archival Fine Art Prints

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.

The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.

Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.

Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide Delivery Included

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.

Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.

Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
