Older woman with sunglasses in Southern India

India is an exciting, vibrant country to photograph. The people are amiable and almost always willing to have their portraits taken. These older women are no exception. She has her head covered in a white scarf and is wearing oversized dark sunglasses.
My initial reaction was to try to look cool. Still, upon closer examination, her lip looks swollen, making me wonder if the poor woman was beaten and is wearing these oversized sunglasses to cover her injuries. I hope that is not the case, but I will never know. After taking her portrait on the streets of Bangalore, India, she gave me a slight smile and turned and walked away.
Part of the allure of street photography is revealing the mystery of other societies and people in their environments.
