Low angle view of Wupatki Indian Ruins

Wukoki Pueblo, Wupatki National Monument AZ
This black and white historic landscape photograph features the ruins of Wukoki pueblo in Wupatki National Monument north of Flagstaff, Arizona, United States. Wukoki Pueblo is one of the best preserved prehistoric structures you can find at the Wupatki National Monument. The Wukoki pueblo is well worth driving a couple of miles off the main road to visit. This image was shot during the golden hour late in the day. The moon is visible in the distance.
Wukoki Pueblo's walls have stood for over 800 years. The masonry is amazingly well done, and the original inhabitants were skilled artisans. Archeologist Jesse Walker first excavated the site in 1896 and found exceptional well-made artifacts like bracelets made of shells, pendants of stone, and turquoise mosaic inlays.
