Chicago Industrial L Train Tracks Downtown | Limited Edition of 10
Chicago’s Industrial L Tracks – Urban Black & White Print
I took this shot standing under the “L” tracks in Chicago. This is the industrial soul of the city. What I love about this black and white is the rawness of the steel. You can feel the grime and age seeping from the structure. It’s dirty in the best kind of way.
The street lights hanging from the framework are quiet and calm. They’re not just functional but standing guard over the street below. The sign that says “13 FT 7 IN EXACTLY” feels like a dare to do something more significant to go under it. There’s something odd about that message in all the metal chaos. That sign is a reminder that even in all this urban grime, there’s still order.
I love how the black-and-white makes the grime, dirt, and industrial texture of the steel pop. It removes all distractions and shows the bones of this old structure. The contrast between light and dark makes the beams feel more massive. You can almost hear the train above and feel the vibrations through the bolts and rivets.
