Chicago Skyline Reflected Across The Surface Of Cloud Gate
Chicago has a way of stacking history and modern architecture right on top of each other, and nowhere does that contrast reveal itself more clearly than in Millennium Park. Standing in front of Cloud Gate, the city quite literally folds back on itself. Skyscrapers bend into the polished steel surface, lights stretch across the sculpture's curves, and the skyline appears to float within a mirrored horizon.
In this photograph, the sculpture anchors the foreground while the Chicago skyline rises behind it in layers of architectural character. A tall glass tower climbs into the sky while historic stone buildings add texture and weight beside it. The reflection running across the sculpture's curved surface transforms the entire skyline into a sweeping panorama that arcs across the metal, a visual echo of the city itself.
What draws me to scenes like this is the way geometry and light begin to interact as evening settles in. The lights along the plaza form starbursts beneath the sculpture, giving the scene a quiet rhythm while the buildings above remain strong and structured. Black-and-white treatment strips the scene down to its essentials—shape, reflection, contrast, and structure. Without colour competing for attention, the architecture and the mirrored skyline take over.
I photographed this on location in Chicago while walking through Millennium Park as the evening lights began to take over the city. Standing there, watching the skyline bend and stretch across the steel surface, you realize the sculpture is almost like a lens itself—capturing the entire city in a single sweeping reflection.
The composition also highlights the relationship between Chicago’s historic and modern architecture. Ornate stone façades stand beside sleek glass towers, each reflecting differently across the sculpture's surface. That mixture of eras is part of what gives the Chicago skyline its identity, and Cloud Gate becomes the perfect visual stage for that story.
As wall art, this image works especially well in modern interiors, offices, and urban-inspired spaces. The strong lines of the architecture, combined with the sweeping reflection, create a piece that feels both graphic and timeless. It carries the energy of a major city while remaining calm and structured enough to sit comfortably in a contemporary room.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
