Tokyo rarely slows down, but there are moments when the city exhales just enough to let you stand still in the middle of it. This image was created in Asakusa during blue hour, when the last trace of daylight drains from the sky and the streetlights take over. The road stretches straight ahead, coated in a deep red surface that immediately caught my attention, pulling the eye forward and anchoring the entire frame. Shops glow on both sides, signage hums quietly, and the city feels suspended between movement and pause.
What you see here is a Tokyo street that’s busy without being chaotic. The composition is dead centre, symmetrical, and deliberate. Buildings rise evenly on both sides, street lamps repeat into the distance, and the crosswalk marks break up the red pavement with clean white lines. The muted colour palette keeps the image grounded, allowing the red roadway to carry the mood without overpowering the scene. Subtle motion from passing pedestrians and distant headlights adds life, but never distraction.
I usually gravitate toward black-and-white work, especially in cities like Tokyo, where structure, contrast, and repetition naturally lend themselves to monochrome. This street, however, demanded colour. The red road wasn’t just a surface; it was the emotional centre of the image. It reflected how the city felt to me in that moment—alive, layered, intense, yet controlled. Sometimes a picture tells you exactly how it wants to exist, and this one was unmistakably colourful.
Asakusa brings its own character to the scene. Known for its blend of traditional streets and modern urban life, the district has a quieter rhythm than other parts of Tokyo. That balance shows itself here. There’s energy, but it’s measured—light spills from storefronts rather than billboards. The street feels lived in rather than staged, which is precisely what I look for when photographing cities at night.
This photograph was created on location, standing in the middle of an active street, responding to the city as it unfolded in real time. I personally sign every print, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity that affirms this is a real photograph made from lived experience and crafted as a finished piece of wall art.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
