Craftsmanship and Design in a Bygone Era

There’s a quiet sophistication in the cockpit of this classic Cord roadster. I photographed this interior with the intention of capturing more than just mechanics—I wanted to honour the human touch behind the wheel. The soft sheen of the turned metal dashboard, the art deco-style gauges, and the distinctive white steering wheel all speak to an era when design and craftsmanship went hand in hand. There’s nothing flashy here. Just the quiet luxury of restraint.

I didn’t stage anything. The car was exactly as I found it, and that mattered to me. You’re seeing it the way I saw it—glimpsed through the window, framed in shadow and reflected light. I wanted the viewer to feel like they’ve just stepped up beside it, leaning in slightly, caught in that moment of curiosity. There’s a sense of invitation in this frame: look closer, take the wheel, imagine the road.

Details like this are why I’m drawn to vintage automobiles. They’re sculptures in motion—rolling museums of engineering and imagination. Every dial, every stitch of upholstery, every chromed accent was shaped with intention. This isn’t nostalgia—it’s reverence.

If you’re building a gallery wall centred on iconic design, this piece pairs beautifully with others in my Classic Car Photography Collection. It’s about more than vehicles—it’s about the enduring appeal of lines, curves, and function rendered beautifully.

Each print is signed and printed by hand, one at a time. What you see here is real—photographed in the field, never generated, never faked. The moment existed. I was there. And now, so are you.
