Havana Fortress Door Wrapped in Roots Print
This black-and-white photograph shows a centuries-old door embedded in the crumbling stone walls of a Havana bay fortress. Thick roots coil over the frame, blending organic growth with man-made structure. Shot during an off-grid walk through Cuba’s less-touristed side, this piece captures the deep contrast between time, place, and erosion.
This door doesn’t just belong to a building—it belongs to a history. Tucked along the stone walls of the fortress guarding Havana’s bay, I found this door half-swallowed by roots. It looked like something from a dream—or maybe a warning. The old wood, worn by salt air and time, now strangled in thick vines. Nature doesn’t wait for permission.
This wasn’t staged. I didn’t touch a thing. I just stood there and let the silence of the scene speak for itself. The roots didn’t just creep—they claimed. As if Havana’s old defenders had long since moved on, and now the earth was taking back what it was owed. You can feel the tension in it—organic chaos against the hard, military lines of Spanish stonework.
If you’ve ever been to Havana, you know the layers. Colonial history, revolution, decay, defiance—all packed into a heatwave of sound and texture. But this door was quiet. Still. The kind of quiet that lingers long after the city noise fades behind you. It felt sacred, in its own stubborn way.
This print brings that mood into the room. It’s not loud or decorative—it’s reflective. Best paired with stone, wood, or metal accents. Somewhere it can breathe. Somewhere, people pause when they see it and go, “What is that?” And then they keep looking. It’s a visual slow burn—rich in shadow, detail, and story.
I shot this during a long walk outside the tourist zones, where the real Havana lives and crumbles. Places like this don’t announce themselves. You find them by chance—and if you’re lucky, you’re carrying a camera when you do.
This piece, like all my prints, is hand-signed and printed by me. No AI, no automation, no filters trying to fake soul. Just a real moment, in a real place, captured with care.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
