Weathered Prairie Barn With Leaning Fence In Tall Grass
Out on the Saskatchewan prairie, buildings like this don’t just sit in the landscape—they grow old with it. The wind, the long winters, the hot dry summers, the endless sweep of grass moving with the horizon. This barn stands quietly in the middle of that story, its long wooden walls worn down by decades of weather and work.
What first caught my eye was the rhythm of the structure itself. The roof stretches almost the full width of the frame, its shingles uneven and aged, while the long horizontal siding shows the texture of time. Small windows punctuate the wall like quiet pauses in a sentence, each one dark and empty. There’s a stillness to it that feels honest—nothing staged, nothing restored, just a building that has lived its life out here on the prairie.
In the foreground, the leaning wooden fence post sits. It tilts slightly, bound with wire, standing stubbornly in a field of tall prairie grass. That small detail became the anchor for the composition. The fence draws the viewer into the scene before the eye naturally moves across the barn itself. The tall grass softens everything, wrapping the structure in a sea of texture that feels almost alive in the wind.
The sky above adds its own character. Wide prairie clouds stretch across the frame, thin and streaked from the wind, giving the photograph a sense of space that only the Canadian prairies really offer. In black and white, the tones separate beautifully—the dark wood grain of the barn, the pale grasses in the field, and the layered movement in the sky. The absence of colour lets the textures and shapes do all the talking.
I photographed this scene while exploring rural Saskatchewan, driving quiet backroads where farms appear suddenly on the horizon and disappear just as quickly behind you. Moments like this are part of why I travel the way I do. You never quite know what you’ll find, but every once in a while, something simple and authentic reveals itself in a way that feels worth preserving.
Each print is produced with archival pigment inks, created to museum standards, and personally signed by me. A certificate of authenticity accompanies every piece, marking it as part of a limited edition of ten.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
