Weathered Prairie Window Framed By Fading Wood And Rust
There’s something about old prairie buildings that never quite lets go of you. I’ve spent enough time driving through Saskatchewan to know that if you slow down—and actually stop—you’ll find stories sitting quietly in plain sight. This window is one of those moments.
At first glance, it’s just a simple farmhouse wall. But the longer I stood there, the more it revealed itself. The wood has been beaten down by decades of wind and winter, each board shifting slightly out of line, worn into a muted palette of greys and earth tones. There’s rust running through the scene—subtle streaks cutting across the siding, metal quietly surrendering to time. Even the fence in the foreground feels like it’s holding on out of habit rather than strength.
The window itself draws everything together. The frame is cracked and faded, the paint long gone, leaving behind raw wood that has absorbed years of prairie weather. The glass is broken in places, with thin horizontal bars stretching across the opening like a fragile attempt to keep something in—or something out. Inside, there’s nothing but darkness: no movement, no trace of life—just stillness.
I photographed this on location in southern Saskatchewan, standing alone in an open field with nothing but wind and silence around me. No distractions, no noise—just the quiet that makes you notice details you’d normally miss. That’s what I’m always chasing out here. Not just the subject, but the feeling that comes with it.
What makes this image work is its restraint. There’s no dramatic sky, no sweeping landscape—just texture, structure, and time. It’s grounded. Honest. And that simplicity makes it incredibly versatile as wall art. It fits naturally into spaces that appreciate raw materials—wood, metal, stone—but it also adds depth to more modern interiors by introducing a sense of history and contrast.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
