Pemaquid Point Lighthouse black and white wall art

There’s something magnetic about the rock beneath your feet on the Maine coast. It’s not just the drama in the stone—though the twisted patterns and jagged fissures look like they were carved by centuries of Atlantic rage—it’s the feeling that you’re walking on permanence. Ancient granite, sea-scoured and rain-slicked, rises like the memory of a thousand storms. And perched just beyond it all, silent and unwavering, is the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.

This photograph was taken standing low among the folds of the shoreline, letting the rock dominate the foreground. The wide-angle view stretches upward toward the lighthouse, drawing the eye across the deeply veined terrain. In black and white, the image leans into texture. No distractions, no frills—just light, stone, and structure. I’ve always believed lighthouses aren’t just architectural relics—they’re emotional ones. Sentinels of resilience. This one’s no exception.

Pemaquid Point, with its salt-stiff wind and steady rhythm of waves, is one of those places that etches itself into you. I didn’t have to wait long for the right light—Maine delivered. Clean air, crisp shadows, and a kind of meditative silence that settles in once you stop chasing the shot and start feeling the place. That’s when I pressed the shutter.

This piece works beautifully as wall art because it’s more than a view—it’s a place you can return to. The stark contrasts and organic patterns invite contemplation. And while it’s quiet, it’s never static. Every layer in that rock feels alive, like it’s still moving, still telling its story.

All of my prints are real photographs—taken on location, signed by hand, and made to last. If you’re drawn to the coast, to history, to images that breathe with the rhythm of the sea, this one belongs on your wall.
