This black-and-white photograph captures the façade of a historic blacksmith shop in Dawson City, Yukon, a place where architecture still carries the weight of its past. The wooden siding, hand-painted lettering, and narrow windows speak quietly. Still, confidence in a time when craftsmanship mattered, and buildings were designed to endure harsh climates, isolation, and daily use. The scene is grounded, symmetrical, and deliberate, with the raised boardwalk and railing guiding the eye across a storefront that once served a working community rather than a curated one.
The absence of colour sharpens the textures — aged wood grain, weather-softened paint, and the subtle contrast between storefronts that were never meant to match perfectly. Light spills gently across the signage, revealing just enough detail to read the words while allowing the surrounding darkness to hold its own. There is no sense of performance here. This is a street that has seen real winters, honest labour, and real people passing through without ceremony.
Dawson City has a way of slowing you down. Walking through town, especially alone, you become aware of how close everything is — not just geographically, but historically. The buildings are intact, but not restored to the point of erasing their age. They wear it honestly. This photograph reflects that feeling of quiet discovery, where you’re not chasing a landmark but simply noticing what’s been standing there all along.
I photographed this scene while travelling through Yukon by van, staying nearby and walking directly from where I was parked into the heart of town. There was no schedule, no crowd, and no pressure to manufacture a moment. I was free to move slowly, observe the light, and wait until the scene felt settled. That lived experience matters because it shapes how an image is seen and when the shutter is released.
This is a real photograph made on location, informed by time spent walking the streets and paying attention. I personally sign each print and include a certificate of authenticity confirming it is a genuine photographic work, created and printed by the artist.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
