Snow Laden Pines in a Quiet Canadian Winter
Every winter in Haliburton has its own rhythm, but this scene stopped me in my tracks. I was out exploring after one of those early-season snowfalls—the kind that catches the landscape off guard and blankets everything in a quiet, heavy calm. The low basin in front of me is actually a frozen wetland, one of those places you pass a hundred times in summer without giving it much attention. But once winter settles in, it transforms into something entirely different. The standing dead trees become these strange sentinels, reaching into a sky that feels almost weightless. Behind them, the dense wall of pines rises like a soft-textured tapestry, every branch holding its own little mountain of snow.
What drew me to press the shutter was the subtle yet honest contrast between life and loss. Those bare trunks have weathered years of storms and spring thaws, yet they still stand, adding a stark vertical rhythm to the frame. And then you’ve got the forest behind—alive, heavy with snow, packed tight and full of structure. The entire scene becomes a conversation between stillness and resilience, something I often find myself returning to in my work. I’ve always believed that real photography matters because it catches these honest, fleeting moments that you can’t fabricate. You feel the cold. You feel the quiet. You feel the reality of the place.
When I stand in front of a landscape like this, there’s always that sense of being just a small figure inside a much bigger world. I love that feeling. It’s humbling, grounding, and somehow comforting all at once. That’s the part I try to bring forward in this print—letting the negative space breathe, letting the tones stay natural and clean, allowing the composition to lead your eye in gently rather than demanding attention. It’s the kind of image that calms the room without making a fuss, and I’ve always thought winter scenes carry a sort of purity that we don’t get from any other season.
Haliburton has been home to some of my most personal work, and scenes like this are precisely why. There’s a rawness here—no crowds, no staged perfection, just real landscape in real conditions. Everything you see in this print existed exactly as it appears—no AI creations, no composites, no shortcuts. Just the world as it was, captured in the kind of moment that only happens when you’re out there living it.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
