Symmetrical Passage Through Columbus Lighthouse Monument
I photographed this black and white architectural image inside the Columbus Lighthouse Monument in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This massive structure, officially known as the Faro a Colón, was built to honor Christopher Columbus and serves as both a monument and museum. The building’s powerful geometric design immediately caught my attention, making it a natural fit for my collection of architectural wall art.
We rented a car and spent the day exploring Santo Domingo before making this impressive landmark our final stop. By the time we arrived, the museum had closed, but the late afternoon light was beginning to warm the exterior and interior spaces. I spent time walking through the monument, searching for different perspectives and details. This view became my favorite because of the perfect symmetry created by the long corridor, repeating windows, and strong leading lines.
The photograph draws the viewer forward through the center of the structure. The tall concrete walls rise on both sides, creating a sense of scale and balance. The repeated patterns of the windows and architectural details create a rhythm that feels almost endless. The soft light at the far end of the passage adds depth and gives the image a quiet, contemplative mood.
Black and white photography works especially well with architecture because it removes distractions and allows shape, texture, and form to become the focus. The weathered surfaces, clean lines, and contrast between light and shadow reveal the character of this unique monument. It is an image designed for those who appreciate modern structures, geometric compositions, and architectural photography with a timeless quality.
This photograph is also a reminder that great images are often found by slowing down and exploring. I was not simply documenting the landmark. I was looking for a visual moment where design, perspective, and light came together.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
