Turquoise Geothermal Pools Across Icelandic Mineral Landscape
Few places on Earth reveal the planet's raw mechanics quite like Iceland. In the geothermal regions surrounding Lake Mývatn in northern Iceland, the land constantly shifts under the influence of heat, minerals, and underground water. Steam rises quietly from vents in the Earth, and the ground itself becomes stained with the colors of the elements reacting beneath the surface.
From the air, this environment transforms into something even more extraordinary. The landscape stops looking like terrain and begins to resemble a living abstract painting. This aerial photograph captures a wide geothermal field where mineral deposits and geothermal pools create a complex tapestry of color and texture spread across the volcanic Earth.
What immediately stands out in this scene is the brilliant turquoise of the geothermal pools scattered across the frame. Their cool blue tones contrast dramatically with the surrounding ground, which is colored by iron and sulfur deposits in shades of deep orange, gold, and pale mineral white. Some of the pools appear isolated, while others connect through faint channels where geothermal water slowly moves across the surface.
The textures across the landscape are just as fascinating as the color. Cracked mineral crusts, bubbling vents, and shallow geothermal basins form irregular circles and patterns across the ground. In some areas, the surface appears almost smooth, while in others, the terrain looks fractured and rough, shaped by years of geothermal activity beneath the surface.
I photographed this while flying my drone above the geothermal fields near Lake Mývatn, an area known for its intense volcanic activity and otherworldly terrain. From ground level, you only see fragments of these colors and textures. But once the drone lifts above the landscape, the entire geothermal system reveals itself in a way that feels almost surreal. The pools, vents, and mineral flows connect visually, forming patterns that stretch across the terrain like brushstrokes on a canvas.
I personally sign each limited-edition print of this photograph and include a certificate of authenticity confirming its place in the edition. The image is produced using archival pigment inks on museum-quality materials to preserve the rich color variations and intricate textures captured in the original aerial photograph.
Because of its natural abstract qualities and bold color palette, this image works beautifully as statement wall art in contemporary spaces. The turquoise pools immediately draw the eye, while the surrounding mineral tones provide warmth and depth, allowing the photograph to complement a wide range of interior environments.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
