Stepping into this frame feels like crossing a threshold in time. In a quiet corner of Kanazawa’s historic district in Ishikawa Prefecture, I found myself drawn to an empty tatami room where the late morning light brushed wood and paper screens with soft highlights and shadows. Laid gently against the polished floor, a traditional wagasa umbrella—its bamboo framework and oiled paper canopy rendered in rich grayscale—seems to rest with intention.
