When I wandered along this quiet stretch of the river in Oslo, I remember how the winter air had that familiar northern stillness—the kind that softens the world without ever quite muting it. The river moved slowly, dark and steady, carving its way through an urban pocket where creativity and grit live side by side. Even in monochrome, the textures along this scene feel alive: the rough stone edging the water, the thin crusts of snow tracing the shoreline, and the bare branches that twist and arc over the river like skeletal choreography.
What always pulls me in are these unexpected places where nature and the city coexist, not neatly but honestly. Oslo has many polished areas, but this is one of those raw, authentic corners where the river meets graffiti-covered walls, art studios, and independent galleries. It’s the type of neighbourhood I naturally gravitate toward—places with character baked into every surface. Even in winter, this little riverside stretch has a pulse. You can almost feel the presence of artists, musicians, and wanderers who drift through throughout the year.
Black and white was the only direction for this piece. Colour would have softened the stark contrasts that define the scene. In monochrome, the graffiti becomes a mass of texture and markings, the trees take on a graphic strength, and the river reflects the sky like a sheet of liquid glass. There’s a calmness here, but it’s not the quiet of untouched nature—it’s the quiet that settles after a long day in a lived-in city.
I’ve always found Oslo’s relationship with winter fascinating. The season doesn’t merely blanket the city; it rewrites its mood. Light falls differently. Edges sharpen. Movement slows. This photograph captures that shift—the meeting of hard urban lines and soft snow, the still river carrying the weight of the season, and the rhythm of a place that feels both industrial and intimate.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
