Every once in a while, I stumble upon a place that feels like a living, breathing canvas—an open invitation to creativity, chaos, and commentary all at once. Amarillo’s Bug Ranch, captured here in stark black and white, is exactly that. Rows of half-buried Volkswagen Beetles rise from the Texas prairie like sculptures of rebellion, each one layered in spray paint, tags, doodles, and messages from travellers who passed before me. It’s graffiti culture stripped bare of pretense—raw, unapologetic, and rooted in the spirit of Route 66.
I chose to render this scene in monochrome, and that decision wasn’t just about aesthetics. Stripping away colour makes the textures scream louder. You notice the grit in the concrete, the shadows stretched across the cracked pavement, the layered coats of paint turned almost geological in their buildup. The Bug Ranch isn’t polished or preserved—it’s constantly evolving. Every new hand with a spray can reshapes its character, adding another layer to its uncurated history. In that sense, the site is alive, in perpetual transformation, much like the road itself.
There’s something about the American Southwest that encourages this kind of eccentric landmark. Whether it’s Cadillac Ranch a little further down the highway or this quirkier sibling with Volkswagens, these sites remind us that art doesn’t need galleries. Sometimes the open sky is gallery enough, and the road is the corridor leading you there. For me, standing here with my camera, it wasn’t about perfect lines or balanced composition—it was about catching the spirit of a place where art and decay converge.
I’ll admit, part of what draws me to spaces like this is their authenticity. No glossy filters, no AI illusions, no curated perfection. Just paint on rusted steel, ideas scrawled in haste, and a roadside field that became famous not because someone declared it important, but because people kept showing up and adding their mark. When I pressed the shutter, I knew I was documenting not just a roadside curiosity, but a collective human impulse—to leave a trace, however fleeting, of having been here.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
