Bookseller Beneath The Trees Near Tribunales
I photographed this street book vendor in Buenos Aires, where rows of books occupy nearly every available shelf, table, and narrow opening in the kiosk. The stand sits beneath a broad canopy of branches near Tribunales, surrounded by the layered architecture and everyday movement of the city. Behind the books, the pale facades, wrought-iron balconies, and dense foliage create a distinctly Buenos Aires setting without pulling attention away from the people working among the shelves.
At the center of the photograph, the bookseller rests on a simple chair beside a folding display table. His posture is quiet and unguarded, suggesting a pause on an ordinary workday. Another man stands at the right, reaching into a tightly packed display. Their positions give the scene a natural balance: one figure is still, while the other is engaged in the physical routine of arranging or searching through books.
What drew me to this scene was the remarkable amount of visual detail. Hardcover volumes form dark, orderly columns, while paperbacks, magazines, and loose stacks create irregular edges throughout the kiosk. The tree branches stretch across the upper half of the frame like a network of lines, contrasting with the rectangular shelves and surrounding buildings. Light filters through the leaves and breaks across the pavement, books, awnings, and clothing. In black and white, those relationships between shape, texture, and tone become more prominent.
I made this photograph on location while walking through Buenos Aires and observing the street life around the Tribunales area. I was interested in the way this small bookselling space felt completely integrated into the city, both commercially and personally, organized yet improvised. Nothing in the moment was staged; I photographed the scene as I encountered it.
Each limited edition print is personally signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. The edition is produced with archival pigment inks on premium archival paper, preserving the fine tonal transitions, crisp architectural detail, and textured shadows that are important to this image.
This photograph works especially well for someone who enjoys books, independent booksellers, urban culture, or candid scenes from South America. Its vertical composition is suited to a reading room, home library, office, study, or a narrow wall where the layered shelves and overhead branches can be appreciated at a larger scale. The neutral black-and-white palette also allows it to sit comfortably with both traditional and contemporary decor.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
