A man riding down the street horse and buggy Trinidad Cuba

This street photograph was shot in the residential area of the famous Trinidad, Cuba, travel destination.  The man is riding in a homemade horse-drawn cart with four modern car tires.  A small white horse pulls the cart.

Like many other cities in Cuba, horse-drawn wagons are the means of transportation for most people in Trinidad.  Horse-drawn carriages in Cuba have been around since the 15th century, when they were used on the island by the Spanish to haul freight.  Through necessity, they are still in use today.
