Crowd Gathering Around Speaker During the 2010 Toronto G20 Protest
There is a certain energy that gathers in a crowd when people stop simply walking past and begin to listen. That moment is what drew my attention here. In the middle of a busy Toronto street during the 2010 G20 protests, a small circle had formed around a woman speaking through a megaphone while holding a sheet of paper. People pressed in close from every direction. Some were kneeling. Some leaned forward with cameras. Others stood quietly with their arms folded, absorbing the moment.
What strikes me about this photograph is how many different roles exist within a single frame. There are journalists crouched low with cameras raised, searching for the right angle. Observers are standing back, watching the unfolding scene with cautious curiosity. A few people document everything with small handheld cameras. And at the centre, the speaker holds the space with a calm intensity that pulls the crowd inward. The composition becomes a layered portrait of attention itself.
The black-and-white treatment brings out the structure of the moment. Faces emerge from the shadow. Sunlight reflects off lenses and foreheads. The surrounding city buildings frame the gathering without overpowering it, creating a quiet sense of urban enclosure. Even the subtle textures—clothing folds, pavement, camera gear—add depth to the scene. Nothing feels staged. It is simply a moment that unfolded naturally amid a charged public event.
I photographed this scene on location during the Toronto G20 protests, moving through the downtown core, observing how different groups gathered and responded throughout the day. Street photography often rewards patience, and moments like this appear suddenly when the energy of the crowd shifts from movement to focus.
Every print is produced using archival pigment inks and archival paper to ensure long-term stability. I personally sign each piece and include a certificate of authenticity as part of the limited edition release.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
