Low Angle Reflection Of Steel Lift Bridge After Rain
I took this photograph just after a heavy rainstorm, when the ground was still soaked and the sky hadn’t quite decided whether it was finished. The Burlington Canal Lift Bridge in Hamilton rises out of the frame like a piece of industrial geometry, all rivets, beams, and layered steel. From this low angle, the structure feels massive—almost overwhelming—as it stretches diagonally across the scene. But what drew me in wasn’t just the bridge itself. It was what happened beneath it.
A shallow puddle had formed along the edge of the pavement, and suddenly the entire structure existed twice—once above, and once reflected below. The reflection isn’t perfect. There’s distortion, grit, subtle movement in the water. That imperfection is what gives the image its tension. It feels grounded. Real. The contrast between the hard engineering of the bridge and the soft, shifting surface of the reflection is what holds everything together.
This part of Hamilton has a strong industrial identity, and the lift bridge is a key landmark connecting Lake Ontario to Hamilton Harbour. It’s functional, built for purpose, but when you step back and really look at it, there’s a kind of quiet structure to it that works visually. Lines intersect, patterns repeat, and everything feels deliberate. In black and white, all of that becomes more apparent. Colour would have distracted from the form.
I was there in person, standing low to the ground, working the angle until the reflection aligned just right. Moments like this don’t last long. The water shifts, the light changes, and the opportunity disappears. That’s part of what makes this kind of image meaningful to me—it’s tied to a very specific moment that can’t be recreated.
Each limited edition print is personally signed by me and includes a certificate of authenticity. The image is printed using archival pigment inks on professional-grade photographic paper, ensuring the depth of tone and detail hold up over time.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
