1956 Buick Centurion Concept Car Dashboard Detail | Limited Edition of 10
Aircraft-Inspired Dashboard from Buick’s 1956 Concept Masterpiece
This isn’t just a dashboard—it’s a time capsule from the future that never was. The 1956 Buick Centurion Concept Car was GM’s wild-eyed vision of what postwar optimism could look like behind the wheel. And in this fine art photograph, I’ve captured its heart: the driver’s seat. Gauges like cockpit instruments. Brushed aluminum glinting in soft light. A steering wheel so sculptural it might as well be kinetic art.
I shot this from the driver’s side, keeping the curve of the windshield in frame to anchor the image in motion. It’s easy to forget this was a car—the kind with ideas far beyond its era. No production vehicle in 1956 looked like this. The Centurion wasn’t just ahead of its time—it skipped a few decades.
The interior design is audacious. Sweeping horizontal lines, aircraft-style dials, and a dashboard that seems to hover. There’s no room for clutter—only intention. In monochrome, the contrasts pop: the dark grip of the wheel, the gleam of polished aluminum, the subtle shadows cast by a row of round gauges.
Like all my work, this is real photography. No AI, no stitching or digital trickery. Just a one-of-a-kind car, captured on-site, printed and signed by hand. Honest. Intentional. Lived.
