Prairie Silence Around an Abandoned Saskatchewan Farmhouse | Limited Edition of 10
Weathered Wooden Farmhouse Standing Alone On Open Prairie
There is a certain stillness you notice when driving across the prairie that doesn’t really exist anywhere else in the country. It’s not silence exactly but something broader than that—a kind of emptiness that stretches outward in every direction until the horizon begins to feel less like a boundary and more like an agreement between land and sky. This farmhouse sat quietly in the middle of that agreement, surrounded by wind-worn grass that had long since stopped caring who lived there.
The structure itself carries the marks of time in a way only wood can. The siding has thinned and peeled into layered grain, the window frames lean just slightly out of square, and the roofline seems to have settled into its own rhythm after decades of prairie winters. The open upper window is dark and hollow, a sharp contrast to the lighter sky, giving the entire building a presence that feels both vacant and watchful at once. Off to the side, a smaller outbuilding mirrors that same slow surrender, its boards weathered into pale strips that catch the light differently depending on where you stand.
I found this place while driving across Saskatchewan, miles from the nearest town, with nothing but fields and distant tree lines to interrupt the horizon. It wasn’t marked on any map or guide, just another quiet remnant of rural life that once anchored a family to this stretch of land. Photographing it in black and white allowed the textures to take over—the grain of the wood, the sweep of the grass, the subtle contrast in the cloud cover drifting across the sky.
Each print is personally signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is produced using archival pigment inks to ensure long-term stability and tonal depth that holds up over time.
