There’s something eerily quiet about this abandoned schoolhouse in Currie, Nevada. The sign still stands—“School Zone”—though there’s no laughter in the wind, no chalk on the board, no footsteps on the worn floorboards. Just weathered timber, rusting vehicles, and the kind of silence that only time can carve into a place. When I photographed this scene, it wasn’t just the building that caught my attention—it was the entire composition of loss, resilience, and the way the land refuses to let go of its past.
The schoolhouse itself is a simple structure, classic and functional, now stripped of purpose but not presence. Its boarded windows feel like eyelids shut tight against the slow erosion of decades. Behind it, an array of derelict trucks, trailers, and a crumbling cement mixer crowd the scene, each with its own story baked into the rust. It’s a tableau of American rural decay—gritty, grounded, and stubbornly authentic.
Above, the desert sky stretches wide and impossibly open. Clouds roll across the horizon in perfect contrast to the horizontal sprawl of wooden fencing and machinery below. That natural drama overhead—the kind you don’t get from software fakery—brings a certain dignity to the scene. It’s these fleeting, unscripted elements I always chase. Real moments. Real places. No AI trickery here—just honest photography, captured with purpose, printed by hand, and signed in my studio.
I’ve walked through a lot of forgotten places in the American West, but this one stuck with me. Maybe it’s the contradiction—the innocence implied by “School Zone” set against the backdrop of total abandonment. Or maybe it’s the way the land clings to memory even when the people have long moved on. There’s beauty in that kind of contradiction, in scenes that aren’t manicured but still carry meaning. I don’t need to stage anything. The story is already written—it just needs to be seen.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
