Monumental Stone Columns Framing Historic Cathedral Doors
There is something quietly powerful about the entrance of St. Paul's Cathedral. Standing in front of it, the first thing I noticed was the sheer scale of the columns. Massive fluted pillars rise from weathered stone bases, framing a pair of heavy wooden doors that seem almost modest by comparison. The architecture feels deliberate and disciplined. Everything is symmetrical. Every line feels purposeful. In black and white, those details come forward in a way color never quite manages.
The stone carries the marks of time. Small cracks, worn edges, and subtle discoloration run across the base of the columns and along the steps. Those imperfections are what make the structure feel alive. This isn’t polished modern architecture. It’s something that has stood through centuries of London weather, footsteps, and history. I like photographing places where you can feel the structure's age through texture alone.
What drew me into the composition was the strong geometry. The staircase pulls the eye upward. The columns anchor the frame's sides with vertical support. In the center, the paneled wooden doors sit like a quiet focal point, balanced and dignified. I framed the scene tightly to emphasize those structural lines and the repeating patterns in the wood and stone. The black-and-white treatment simplifies everything to light, shadow, and texture.
I photographed this on location in London while walking around the cathedral grounds, taking time to study how the building reveals itself from different angles. St. Paul's Cathedral is one of those places where every doorway, arch, and column seems to hold its own composition if you slow down enough to see it. Standing there with the camera, I remember stepping back and realizing how the symmetry of the entrance created a natural sense of calm within the frame.

The vertical lines and balanced composition give the image a grounded presence on a wall, while the monochrome tones keep it elegant and understated. This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
