I remember crouching in the grass, camera at the ready, heart pacing slower than usual. Not because I wasn’t alert—but because I was in awe. A tiny brown bear cub, no more than a few weeks old, curled into the base of its mother like a comma in a sentence that hadn’t finished. She stood guard, unmoving, a living wall of warmth and fur.
