I Passed the Audition Havana Cuba

ic:Yes, that’s me in the middle. The bald tourist who somehow got promoted from audience member to performer.

I have always believed that the best way to understand a place is to step right into it. In Cuba, my wife and I were watching a lively stage show when suddenly the performers called me up to join them. One minute I was sitting in the audience; the next, I was standing under bright lights, surrounded by dancers in full costume. The crowd laughed, the music kept going, and for a few minutes, I was part of the show.

That’s the kind of thing that happens when you travel with curiosity and an open mind. You stop being just a visitor and start becoming part of the moment. Experiences like that stay with me long after the trip ends, and they remind me why I keep travelling the world with a camera in hand—to experience the culture, the people, and the unexpected moments that make every place unique.

If you enjoy scenes from this incredible country, explore more in my Cuba wall art collection.
