Antique Bathtub Route 66
Route 66 is about 2,800 miles (4,000 km), with about 85% of the original highway still existing. Many sample the popular touristy section of the 'Mother Highway,' but my wife and I opted to drive the entire route. I am told that this is called being a 'purist.'
What I loved about doing the entire Route 66 is you go through every conceivable terrain, town, buildings, and ... well .... bathtubs.
I am driving through a tiny section of buildings in this one Route 66 town that one would consider a living ghost town with a lone motel in complete decay - basically, a ruin - and in the front is this early-century bathtub painted red decades ago and now peeling, with a green antique chair behind it. The detail in the weathered bathtub is fantastic.
Why did I photograph and publish a red bathtub? Because I really like it :)
