Vintage Bathtub on Route 66 Classic Americana | Limited Edition of 10
Abandoned Motel, Route 66, and One Very Out-of-Place Bathtub
You can’t make this stuff up. A porcelain clawfoot tub, rusted at the edges, sitting dead centre on the front porch of an abandoned motel somewhere along Route 66. No sign, no plaque, no attempt to explain it—it was just there, like it had always belonged. And that’s exactly what made me stop.
This wall art print is one of my favourites not because it’s grand, but because it’s strange in the best way. It’s the kind of image that makes people pause, tilt their heads, and ask, “What’s going on here?” There’s humour in it, sure—but also something thoughtful. It’s a visual question without a clean answer. And that, to me, is what makes for truly creative wall art.
The motel behind it is long past its prime—faded paint, broken windows, a cracked concrete porch that’s still trying to hold everything up. But the tub? It’s positioned just so. Whether it was placed as a joke or just left behind, it has presence. The scene feels almost staged, but I can promise you, it wasn’t. I shot it exactly as I found it.
The colours are muted: soft whites, weathered wood, a hint of desert tan in the background. Everything about it feels baked in the sun, but not forgotten. This print brings a touch of surreal Americana into a room—quirky, honest, and full of character.
It works anywhere that invites conversation—entryways, studios, hallways, cafés. Hang it on your wall and someone’s going to ask about it. And that’s the point.
Like all my work, this is real photography. No setups, no AI, no composites. Captured on location and printed by hand in my studio, then signed individually. It’s part of my Creative Wall Art Collection, a space where the odd and the authentic meet.
