Weathered Brick Americana Beneath An Open Sky
The American flag fills the side of this old brick building, its stars and stripes painted directly across a surface already marked by age, weather, and years of use. Beneath it, the words UNITED WE STAND are impossible to miss. I am drawn to photographs like this because the subject is familiar, yet the setting changes how I see it. This is not a pristine flag flying from a polished government building. It is painted into the fabric of an ordinary American street.
In black and white, the brickwork becomes especially important. Individual mortar lines, chipped paint, darker bands of brick, barred lower windows, wooden stairs, neighboring houses, and the broad painted stripes all become part of the structure of the photograph. The large flag dominates the frame, while the architecture surrounding it keeps the image grounded in everyday life. That relationship places the photograph naturally within my urban wall art photography, where buildings, streets, signs, and human-made surfaces often say as much about a place as the people who live there.
The sky adds another layer. Large clouds rise around the building while finer streaks stretch across the open space above it, giving the rigid rectangular facade a looser background. Against that sky, the hand-painted stars and stripes feel graphic and immediate. I deliberately prefer the photograph in black and white because the absence of color shifts attention toward form, texture, lettering, weathering, and contrast rather than relying on the familiar red, white, and blue of the flag itself.
For me, the strength of this image lies in that combination of symbolism and ordinary surroundings. The message is direct, but the building is imperfect and visibly lived with. That gives the photograph a documentary quality that feels different from conventional patriotic imagery.
I offer this photograph as a limited edition of only 10 prints. Each print is personally signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. I print the photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper, preserving the fine brick texture, painted lettering, and broad tonal range of the original image.
As wall art, I see this working particularly well in industrial, contemporary, rustic, or Americana-inspired interiors, especially for collectors drawn to American architecture, roadside culture, murals, and symbolic imagery. It also belongs naturally alongside my broader collection of Americana wall art photography.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.
