A Bright Leaf Shaped Canopy Above a Snowy Rise
A glowing tree shape rises from the pale snowy ground into a deep black sky. I photographed this light installation during a quiet winter evening in Oslo in 2023, drawn to the brightness of its canopy and the dark form supporting it. The image holds the whole tree-shaped artwork within a vertical frame, leaving enough darkness around it for the individual lights to remain distinct.
The leaf-shaped lights gather into a dense crown above the branching centre. Some clusters appear brighter than others, creating a fine pattern across the canopy. I like how the darker limbs remain visible within that brightness, giving the installation a clear structure. The trunk meets the ground near the middle of a gentle rise, with small marks in the snow supplying a quieter texture below.
Black and white brings the scene close to a study of light itself. The illuminated leaves stand out as pale points and short shapes, while the branches connect them through deeper tones. A soft glow surrounds parts of the canopy, easing the transition into the dark background. The contrast feels strong, yet the simple arrangement keeps the photograph calm.
This Oslo night photograph can bring a bright focal point to a room without relying on colour. It offers the familiar outline of a tree through an unusual urban artwork, making it appealing to someone who enjoys light installations, winter imagery or quiet monochrome compositions.
