Bronze Reflections on the Intracoastal Waterway | Sunset Photography

The Setting Sun Between Two Forested Shores

I made this photograph while boating along the Intracoastal Waterway, where two wooded shores draw together around a quiet channel. The sun sits above the trees on the right, filtered by thin cloud, and its reflection spreads a bronze glow across the water. The scene felt warm and enclosed, with the forest holding the evening light between its banks.

Moving slowly through this stretch, I remember the peace more than any single event. There was enough stillness in the water to carry both the sky’s color and the dark outlines of the trees. I kept the view broad so that feeling of space could remain part of the photograph.

The two shores are different in the light. The left retains patches of green and individual tree shapes, while the right becomes a deeper, more continuous shadow. Both lead toward the narrow opening in the distance, giving the eye a route through the center of the image.

Above them, orange and muted rose spread beneath darker cloud. Below, the same warmth becomes softer and more broken by the water’s small ripples. I like that the reflection does not simply duplicate the sky; it gives the color a second, quieter form.

For someone drawn to evenings on the water, this photograph offers a familiar pause along the journey. The low sun is still bright enough to define the moment, but the forest and darker foreground keep it restrained. I return to the small opening between the banks, where the waterway continues beyond what the photograph reveals.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
