St Colman's Cathedral grand Interior
The nave and church altar of St Colman's Cathedral, Cobh, Co. Cork, Munster, Ireland, is featured in this black and white fine-art photographic print.
The ancient Catholic church was constructed on a bed of artificial sandstone. It was built between 1859 and 1919. The beautiful cathedral typifies the French Gothic style, with rose windows, high pointed arches, octagonal towers, and several fine gargoyles. These all combine for a very continental, even Mediterranean effect. Especially noteworthy is the Sacred Heart Chapel, which is decorated with Italian marble and a fine mosaic floor.
