SAHMRI Curved Balconies and Triangular Grid Black and White Photography
Repeated Rounded Edges Frame a Dense Geometric Pattern
Curved balcony edges repeat through the SAHMRI interior, gathering around a dense pattern of triangular lines. I photographed this architectural detail in 2016, drawn to the way smooth curves and sharp angles occupy the same view. The composition feels almost symmetrical, with broad rounded forms enclosing smaller repetitions deeper within the space.
Pale edges trace the balconies as continuous lines. Behind and around them, the triangular grid creates a much finer rhythm, changing in scale as it moves across the frame. I like how the smooth boundaries give the eye a clear route through such a detailed arrangement. A darker central area provides a pause, allowing the brighter lattice around it to remain readable.
Black and white gives the photograph a strong graphic presence. Light and shadow divide the structure into distinct bands, while reflections and overlapping lines make some areas more intricate. The curves remain recognisable even when the grid begins to look almost abstract. That movement between a physical interior and a pattern of shapes is what keeps the image interesting to me.
This architectural photograph can add a concentrated geometric study to a contemporary room. It suits someone who enjoys modern buildings, repeated forms and the relationship between design and light. The horizontal framing gives the curves room to expand across the view, with finer detail waiting within them. I remember being caught by the visual rhythm of the space, and the photograph preserves that interplay between rounded edges and the sharper triangular structure.
