Dark Vertical Framework Meets Sweeping White Interior Curves
This view inside SAHMRI in Adelaide is built around two very different kinds of line. Dark vertical framework rises from the bottom of my photograph, while broad white curves open out above it. Higher still, a triangular grid gathers into the bright upper space. In black and white, those layers become the main subject.
I like the way the tall format carries the eye through the building. The lower section is dense and almost mechanical, with parallel tracks, crosspieces and small reflections. It leads towards a smooth white opening that feels much lighter. That change in texture gives the photograph a clear progression without needing to show the whole interior.
Above the white band, rounded edges repeat around the central opening. Fine horizontal lines cross them, and the grid beyond adds another scale of repetition. I see the image as a balance between straight paths and enclosing curves: the architecture is precise, but the perspective makes it feel layered and almost sculptural.
The absence of colour helps me keep those relationships visible. Bright surfaces, dark structural elements and the many small triangles hold distinct places in the composition. As a vertical print, it suits a modern room or design workspace where a strong architectural shape can anchor the wall. What keeps me returning to this photograph is its depth, from the close framework at the bottom to the intricate pattern above, all contained within one upward view.
