Rural Indiana Barn and Farm Building Black and White Landscape Photography
Two Weathered Structures Beyond an Open Field and Trees
Two farm buildings sit beyond an open Indiana field, separated by a small gap in the trees. The lower structure on the left has a long pale wall and a raised strip along its roof. To the right, a darker barn presents a broad gable with two narrow openings near the top. I photographed this rural scene in 2007, keeping enough distance to include the surrounding field and the wooded backdrop.
The contrast between the buildings gives the composition a simple balance. One stretches horizontally, while the other rises to a central peak. Weathered boards and roof panels remain visible despite the wider view, and their muted tones sit naturally against the foliage. I like the way the trees soften the buildings’ outlines without obscuring their different forms. A bare crown on the left adds fine branching lines above the lower roof.
Across the foreground, short stems and crop remnants make a fine repeating texture. They become softer near the bottom of the frame, leaving the buildings as the clearest points of attention. The pale sky provides a quiet upper boundary, with the uneven tree line carrying most of the detail beneath it.
Black and white brings field, timber and foliage into a restrained rural palette. The photograph offers the appeal of an everyday Midwestern landscape, where practical buildings and their natural surroundings share the scene. As a print, it suits a space shaped by rustic materials or an interest in farm architecture and open country.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
