Two Women At A Tuscan Window Black And White Street Photography

Sale price $39.00 CAD

Village Life Watched From An Open Window Above

I noticed these two women looking out from a window while a wine festival brought people into the street below. Their faces rose just above the stone sill, turning an ordinary apartment window into the most memorable part of the scene. One woman looks slightly to the side; the other peers directly over the ledge with bright, attentive eyes.

The view from below is essential to the photograph. The open shutters spread outward on either side, and the pale wall rises towards another window higher up. Against that generous architectural frame, the two faces occupy surprisingly little space. Yet they are where my eye returns every time I look at the image.

In black and white, the dark room behind them brings out their hair, expressions and the lines of their faces. The worn edge of the sill adds a rough horizontal band beneath them. I like the balance between those firm shapes and the warmth of their presence: the building gives the composition structure, while the women give it life.

Photographed in Tuscany in 2010, this is a moment of everyday village life observed from the street. I wanted to hold onto that shared curiosity without turning it into a grand story about who they were. For someone who enjoys Italian street photography and portraits with an informal human connection, it offers a small, engaging encounter that rewards another look.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
