Berlin Glass Staircase Black and White Architectural Photography
Diagonal Stair Flights Within a Grid of Glass Panels
Diagonal stair flights cross a grid of dark glass-panel lines, turning an office building into a precise arrangement of shapes. I photographed this architectural detail in Berlin, Germany, in 2013. The black and white image concentrates on the stairs, landings and pale concrete surfaces visible through the glass.
The facade provides a clear rectangular framework. Within it, the staircases rise in opposite directions, while the landings form a vertical sequence near the centre. Fine railings introduce smaller repeated lines along each flight. I like how the building’s practical structure becomes a composition without needing to be separated from its purpose.
Light gives the pale interior surfaces slightly different tones. Some areas hold smooth shadows, others show the texture of concrete, and small lights punctuate the landings. The dark panel edges remain the strongest lines, but the stairs keep the eye moving across them. A larger angled shadow near the top adds another shape to that conversation.
For me, this photograph is an example of how looking closely can make ordinary circulation spaces visually engaging. The geometry is strong, yet the layers behind the glass prevent it from reading as a flat diagram. As wall art, it can appeal to someone interested in Berlin, modern buildings or minimalist architectural photography. Its neutral palette and ordered lines offer a composed focal point for an office or contemporary room, with the stair flights adding movement within the grid.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
