Life in the streets of Cardenas Matanzas Cuba | Limited Edition of 10
Colonial City Life: An Afternoon in Cardenas Matanzas, Cuba - Photo Art Print
Picture this: it's a bustling afternoon in Cardenas Matanzas, Cuba, a harbor town steeped in history and founded on March 8th, 1828. The streets are a vibrant tableau of life, humming with the movement of people, cars, bicycles, and horse-drawn carriages. The spirit of this colonial city comes alive through my lens, capturing the essence of Cuba before the Castro regime, a memento of the past etched in the present.
The city's architectural fabric is a palette of varied styles, with beautiful Colonial buildings, their 19th-century arches boldly defining the cityscape. The city's history is etched in its buildings, including early 19th-century military fortresses that once served as the city's defense ring. Each building has a story to tell, and through my lens, I strive to narrate that story.
With the majority of Cardenas' 75,000 inhabitants working in tourism in Varadero, you'll find a warm, friendly atmosphere that is quintessentially Cuban. The city streets, structured and neat, house this welcoming community, an aspect of the city I've endeavored to capture in this photograph.
