Tokyo Glass Roof Curves Black and White Geometric Photography
Sweeping Arcs and Repeated Ribs Viewed From Directly Below
Looking up beneath this Tokyo roof structure, I found the architecture briefly disorienting. Broad curves cross the frame, while thinner ribs follow the glass in repeated arcs. I photographed the overhead view in black and white, letting the pale sky and dark edges turn the structure into a study of shapes rather than a conventional building exterior.
The largest curved members meet around an open triangular space near the middle. Around that opening, oval shapes extend beyond the image edges, so the pattern feels larger than the frame can contain. Smaller lines repeat within each section of glass. I liked having those two scales together: a few strong curves and a much finer rhythm running between them.
Light passing through the roof gives the view a relatively bright background. That makes the edges easy to follow, but reflections and glimpses of neighbouring architecture add detail behind the glass. The structure is not a flat graphic. Its overlapping layers and changing angles keep reminding me of the space above where I stood.
I came across this view while walking through Tokyo’s modern commercial districts. It was a small change in attention, from looking ahead to looking directly upward, that revealed the composition. The photograph stays with that discovery. I can follow one arc until it leaves the frame, then return along another, with the repeated ribs giving each curve its own internal pattern.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
