1947 Cadillac White Steering Wheel Interior Photograph
A Bright Rim And Chrome Crest Beyond The Window
The Cadillac crest sits low in the frame, enclosed by polished metal and a broad white wheel. I photographed this 1947 interior through the driver's side window at a classic car showcase. Black and white keeps the nearer horn centre clear while the dashboard and instruments soften behind it.
The window frame crosses the left side of the wheel, making the viewpoint part of the composition. I like that small interruption: it retains the feeling of looking into a car from outside. The pale rim curves through the upper half, while the narrower chrome horn ring forms another arc below. Around the centre, reflections change from bright edges to darker patches. Those shifts give the metal depth and prevent the badge from becoming only a flat symbol.
Farther inside, the dashboard introduces a different structure. Horizontal trim and a grid of openings sit between rounded instrument shapes, with the column-mounted lever adding a diagonal. I kept those details softer because the wheel was what first held my attention, but they still provide enough information to place it within the cockpit. Looking at the photograph, I can move from the sharply defined crest into the quieter background and back again. That relationship is what I wanted to preserve from the showcase: a close view of one distinctive part, with the surrounding interior still present behind it.
