Haliburton Green Forest Canopy Looking Up Colour Nature Photography
Slender Trunks Converging Beneath A Ceiling Of Leaves
Looking up in this Haliburton forest brings the trees into a loose circle overhead. Slender trunks enter from the edges, and their branches meet among layers of green leaves. Small openings reveal a pale sky beyond. I photographed this canopy in Ontario in 2012, drawn to a perspective that makes the woodland feel enclosing and spacious at the same time.
Haliburton has long been one of my favourite places to explore. This view recalls the quieter afternoons I have spent in its woods, when a pause to look above changes the whole scene. The trunks give the photograph direction, but the leaves keep that direction from becoming too rigid. Each branch disappears into a slightly different patch of green.
The light has an important role here. Some foliage is deep green, while other leaves take on a brighter yellow-green tone. Against those colours, the darker trunks form a fine framework. I enjoy the irregular gaps in the canopy as much as the denser areas: they let the eye move through the image without settling on one dominant tree.
A view like this brings the experience of looking upward into a horizontal composition. On a wall, I see it offering an immersive field of natural colour, with enough structure to reward a closer look. It would suit someone who loves forests, Ontario landscapes or photographs centred on everyday encounters with nature. For me, its quiet appeal lies in the meeting of many separate trees, their branches forming one continuous canopy above the viewpoint.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
