As the photographer, I was captivated by the allure of St. Mary's Basilica of the Assumption's ancient doors in Gdańsk, Poland. The fine-art photograph captures the essence of history, as the imposing wooden doors stand tall, adorned with intricate ironwork that speaks of the meticulous craftsmanship of a bygone era. The play of light and shadow enhances the texture of the aged wood, instilling a sense of reverence for the countless hands that have passed through these doors.
Nestled in the heart of Gdańsk, St. Mary's Basilica of the Assumption, also known as St. Mary's Church, is a prime example of Gothic architecture. Constructed between 1343 and 1502, it is one of the largest brick churches in the world, and it has witnessed the ebb and flow of history for over six centuries.
As a fine-art print, this photograph pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of the location and invites the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the past in the present. Through the lens of my camera, I sought to encapsulate the passage of time while simultaneously celebrating the endurance of human creativity and craftsmanship.
