Illuminated Clock Tower Above Wet Cobblestone Streets
Gdansk changes character after dark. In this black-and-white photograph, the illuminated Main Town Hall rises above the historic center, its clock face and elaborate tower sharply defined against an almost featureless night sky. Below it, the street stretches into the distance through rows of lights, narrow facades, outdoor cafés, and people moving through the scene.
I photographed the city from street level, allowing the tower to dominate without separating it from the life happening beneath it. That relationship matters to me. The architecture is monumental, but the blurred pedestrians, glowing lamps, storefronts, and wet cobblestones keep the photograph grounded in an ordinary evening in Poland rather than turning it into a formal architectural study. It sits naturally within my Poland wall art photography, where the character of a place often comes from the meeting of historic architecture and contemporary street life.
The black-and-white treatment strips away competing colors and puts the emphasis on illumination, structure, and depth. The brightest part of the frame is the Main Town Hall itself, while the surrounding buildings gradually disappear into darker values. Streetlights form a loose visual path toward the tower. Reflections across the damp pavement introduce smaller areas of light, particularly along the right side of the street, while the silhouettes and partially blurred figures give the scene a sense of movement.
I also like the amount of darkness surrounding the tower. The open sky gives the architecture room to stand on its own, while the lower portion of the photograph becomes progressively busier with cobblestones, people, lamps, café structures, and the dense texture of the city. The result is less about documenting one building in isolation and more about showing how it occupies the nighttime streetscape of Gdansk.
As wall art, this photograph suits collectors drawn to European cities, historic architecture, night street photography, and strong monochromatic interiors. The vertical composition works especially well where a taller piece can carry visual weight without relying on color.
This photograph is offered as a limited edition of only 10 prints. Each print is personally signed by me and includes a certificate of authenticity. I print the work using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper, giving the fine architectural detail, deep blacks, and luminous highlights the tonal separation they require. Although the central landmark is civic architecture rather than a religious building, collectors attracted to illuminated towers and historic European structures may also find a natural connection with my church wall art photography.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.
