Havana Waterfront Warehouse Tower and Empty Windows Black and White Photography
Worn Facades and Projecting Beams Above Rippling Water
The tower rises above a long, worn waterfront facade in this Havana photograph I made in 2017. Its pitched roof and arched openings give the building a distinct shape against the sky, while empty rectangular windows repeat across the lower walls. Water fills a narrow band at the bottom of the frame, bringing a finer moving texture beside the heavy structure.
I was drawn to the way the building still holds a clear outline despite its damaged surfaces. The tower offers an orderly sequence of arches, while the walls below carry stains, cracks and exposed patches. Dark openings interrupt the pale facade. Projecting beams add diagonal lines near the right side, making the missing and broken parts of the structure visible.
Black and white brings the different textures into a restrained palette. The darker roof contrasts with the tower’s light walls, and the deep window spaces give the facade a strong rhythm. Soft clouds make a quieter background above those hard edges. I like how the photograph moves between the larger architectural form and the small details of its worn surface.
Standing before the building, I felt that its condition was worth preserving in a photograph. The image can suit an interest in Havana, waterfront architecture or abandoned places whose surfaces reward a closer look. Its vertical composition lets the tower remain prominent while keeping the water and lower facade in view. For me, the picture holds a quiet study of a recognisable building shape, with age and damage visible in the walls, windows and roof.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
